The food is a mix of American and Costa Rican. Much of what you are used to eating here at home with lots of beans and plantains thrown in.
Is it safe?
Yes. Each trip is guided very carefully and stays within a preset safety guidelines. We are however in a very impoverished community, and the possibility of petty crime exists. As long as each group member conforms to the guidelines our host's set for us, things are very safe. Our housing is located in an area where one may freely walk in the day or night. We partner with another ministry called Christ for the City to make our arrangements. This ensures that every precaution we can control is taken with regard to safety.
Is my trip refundable?
No. Each trip is arranged counting on a preset number of people involved. Once you are signed up, some arrangements could be made to trade spots with a same gender person, but by in large, costs associated with your trip are not refundable, especially airline tickets.
Can you drink the water?
All water in the city of San Jose is safe to consume.
Will we do anything fun?
Arrangements are made for a fun and relaxing day with most all of the trips we take. This may typically include some hiking or a day at the beach. Arrangements are made individually for each group going, and are made long after the members are signed up for the trip. It is good to note that there is very little sightseeing. We would encourage you to achieve your tourism goals separately by booking a vacation in Costa Rica.
